As a way to spread joy and bring people together during the covid lockdown, something that will hopefully never happen again in our lifetime, I did something unique.

 

To help bring people together during a time when most of us were apart, I walked around the streets of Rayleigh, my local town, and took photos of families on their doorsteps. 
My sessions were short and sweet (5-10mins) and took place on almost 200 front doorsteps.

So many of my families dressed up for me to document a time of togetherness whilst everyone stayed at home. I gave families all their digital images and, in exchange, I asked for a donation to Southend Hospital Charity. It’s a little charity which does big things! The department I chose was The Women’s Clinic. 

This organisation support patients, their families, and the amazing staff who work tirelessly and are the heartbeat of the hospital. They fund research, support staff training and provide much needed equipment. They also help with improving the hospital environment.

 

I raised £3000! 

 

To say I’m proud is an understatement. The project took me many months and many miles. I started in March and finished in August, almost 6 months of walking, snapping and fund raising!

 

I will never forget my doorsteps experience. I can happily say I made heaps of new friends too! I’m so pleased my extraordinary journey is continuing.
